Chess session participants

15 children participated in the chess camp - from Rožňava, Gemerská Poloma, Betliar and Moldava nad Bodvou, which were supervised by adult members of ŠK GP and parents. Chess session was focused not only on chess activities, but also as a summer camp for children with a lot of non-chess activities.

The animator of the concentration was Róbert Szaszák, who leads the children on the Chess Group at ZŠ Zlatá prepared a number of interesting activities. The program for children included: chess, fitness, painting on T-shirts and more. In addition to the chess tournament with 2x10m + 2 s timing, which was attended by 13 players, the children also struggled in the outdoor boccia tournament, which was managed by Ondrej Bašták Ďurán from Bashto Sports and a tournament in the Sjoelen board game.

The chess tasks were solved not only on classic table chessboards but also on a large chessboard with outdoor chess pieces.

With chess activity focused on the development of chess games for children, invited chess instructors from Chess REINTER, from Humenne Tomáš Ondo and Róbert Fiačan, who prepared a lecture for children on the topic of tower endings, chess opening and how they think about experienced chess players. Children had the opportunity to play with the lecturers simultaneously.

As a part of the camp were also obvious camp activities such as roast beef or walk through the night forest and morning warm-up. Children spent a lot of time playing football or archery.

A hungry belly was cared for by a team of cooks from the number of assistants and parents. The pot stew was made by Marek Vais, the kitchen was taken care of by Ivana Szaszáková, Ján Fabián and Zdenka Lázárová. In addition to residents, guests who spent pleasant moments with us during the day - members of the ŠK GP Mrs. Helena Lacková with her son Vlado and others - also visited the camp.

Chess Youth Session is already the second event of the Chess Club of this kind and fits into the higher goal of the club, which seeks to develop chess youth in the Gemer region. After the club has been operating for about 4 years, we are gradually developing a healthy core of young chess players and a human and material background for chess activities in the region. Chess session is, besides chess trainings, chess groups, presentations and participation in chess tournaments for youth throughout Slovakia, an important article in the comprehensive approach of chess enthusiasts associated around our chess club to the development of youth chess at Gemer.
