Description of game:
Boccia is a ball game in which players try to throw their ball as close as possible to the target. The opponents have both 6 balls each, one red, the other one a blue color, and they are targeting a white ball. The balls are soft, made of PU imitation or genuine leather filled with plastic granules, weighing approximately 1/4kg. The game is played on a smooth surface in the interior, on a court of 6 × 12.5m. A player who throws more balls closer to the white ball than his opponent, wins.
It is a paralympic sport, for which international rules apply under auspices of the Boccia International Sports Federation - BISFed.
Players are divided into 5 categories by the level of disability: BC1, BC2, BC3, BC4, BC5.
